At the end of every appointment, the same moment comes up at the mirror: the cut is done, the blow-dry is finished, and the question is how to keep it looking like this at home. No single answer works for everyone. That's why the Assort hair product line isn't one formula for everyone. It's a small set built around something we see in the chair every day: no two heads of hair want the same thing.

What is the Assort product line

The products in this guide cover four jobs: shine, taming, curl definition and hold. Each product is made for one of them.

Assort Multi Oil Light and Assort Multi Oil Rich are both for shine. They come in two weights, so you can choose based on how much your hair can take.

Assort Multi Balm is for taming. Reach for it when your hair needs calming down and smoothing over.

Assort Hair Cream is for wavy and curly texture, for hair that already has movement.

Assort Hair Wax is for hold and texture. Use it when you want a style to stay where you put it and still show some separation.

Why one product never suits everyone

Our name comes from "assortment", a mix of many kinds. Behind it is the idea of 十人十色, "ten people, ten colours": ten clients means ten different hair designs. A product line that only suited one hair type would go against that idea. So the range is a set you choose from, not a single routine we hand to everyone.

Osaka's weather makes that choice matter. In the humid weeks of the rainy season and through the long, sticky summer, frizz and limp roots show up fast. In the dry winter months, ends can lose their shine. You might want something different in July than in January. With a few options, you can change your routine with the weather instead of fighting it.

How to choose

Start with what you want your hair to do, not with the product.

If you want shine, choose one of the oils. Assort Multi Oil Light is the lighter of the two, and Assort Multi Oil Rich is the fuller one. Which suits you depends on how thick your hair is and how much it can absorb. We can work that out with you at the mirror.

If you want calmer, smoother hair, Assort Multi Balm is the one for taming. Think of the flyaways and puffy outline that humid days bring.

If you have curls or waves, Assort Hair Cream is the one for curly texture. That includes natural curl, a perm, or a wave you're growing into.

If you want your style to stay put, Assort Hair Wax gives hold and texture. It suits shorter cuts, piecey finishes and any style that needs a defined shape.

Each product works on its own, but you don't have to pick just one. They can also be mixed, which we cover below.

What to book

The easiest way to find your match is to have someone look at your hair with you. Every cut on our menu includes a shampoo and blow-dry. A Stylist Cut is JPY 8,800, a Top Stylist Cut is JPY 10,450 and a Senior Stylist Cut is JPY 12,100. The finishing time at the end of your appointment is a good moment to talk about which product, or which mix, fits your hair and the way you style it at home. If you don't need a cut, a Shampoo & Blow Dry is JPY 4,950. These prices are a guide, and the exact price is confirmed when you book online.

If you've just had a perm, ask us about Assort Hair Cream for your new curls. If you're growing out a sharp short cut, ask about Assort Hair Wax.

Make it yours

There's no rule that says you have to stick to one product. You can mix them to get whatever texture you want. Maybe you want shine with a little more control, or hold that still looks soft, or curls that are defined and also smooth. Mixing lets you adjust the finish instead of choosing between one job and another.
